Q magazines colour scheme of red, black and white seem to be more appropriate for its target audience. This I believe is vital as the cover of a magazine must appeal to its audience and the colours used are a subtle way to do so.This is the mistake I made in my pre-lim task, the colours were too vibrant for my target audience.
As I want my cover to appeal to an older target audience I think the black and white colour scheme would work well with one other vibrant colour in contrast.
The photographs on the cover are sophisticated and fit in with the colour scheme and are mostly medium shots of the artists yet take up most of the front cover and in fact, because the masthead is very simplistic and short there is more emphasis on the artists themselves. The title being long doesn't add anything to the cover of the magazine but does need to link to the magazine's subject
In addition to this the lack of so many pictures makes the cover overall much more simplistic and thus, more appropriate for its audience.
